The Fund Distribution Process is a major part of the entire Student Initiative. This process is designed to help train “future community volunteer leaders”. 2008 is the 15th year in which United Way’s Youth Division has allocated funds to programs at our partner agencies. Each year proposals are submitted by our partner agencies. The students then spend one month reviewing the proposals to find out as much as they can about the proposed program. Very hard decisions have to be made because requests usually come in larger than the amount that they have to allocate. At the Funding Decision Meeting, each student gives their views on the proposed project and presents their recommendations to the entire group. After which the floor is open for questions and discussion. After discussion, the members reach a consensus on each of the proposals deciding whether the proposal is to be funded and at what level. |
