The United Way of Greater Lorain County mantra is about the power of unity. It's about working together to bolster the viability of our residents, neighborhoods and communities. It's a constant reminder that when we as individuals think beyond ourselves, we have the ability to facilitate powerful change.
Those beliefs are why UWGLC hosts the Week of Caring each fall. The week-long event provides unique volunteer opportunities at multiple locations across the entire county. Projects are divided into different shifts on each day of the week so that no matter your schedule, you can have an opportunity to give back.
Beginning in 2011, the traditional day of caring was expanded into an entire Week of Caring. The new format proved to be a success as 294 volunteers participated in 31 projects from Monday, August 22nd through Saturday, August 27th.
Typical volunteer projects at the Week of Caring include playground builds, painting, landscaping, reading to children, serving food at a shelter, packing and organizing food at a food pantry and much more.
Please check back in the summer to sign up for the 2012 Week of Caring.
